Category:Technical communication toolsFour men arrested in the city and three held in a nearby county are suspected of plotting to kill New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, law enforcement sources told The Post.
The plot was being hatched in gang-dominated Brownsville, Brooklyn, a police source said, and the men appeared to have bought guns, ammo, and hunting knives.
Authorities were tipped off about the plot by a confidential informant, the sources said.
All four are slated to appear in Brooklyn court Monday.
One of the accused, meanwhile, is considered to be the “planner” of the alleged plot.
“He was the key,” said a law enforcement source.
All four men are from Brownsville and had a history of violent disputes with other gangs, according to police.
The men were arrested Saturday after two separate transactions with undercover police officers.
“The first transaction occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, when undercover officers observed an unidentified man sell an AK-47 to another unidentified man inside a residence at 4807 Broadway,” the NYPD said in a statement.
“Based on the information gathered during this investigation, undercover officers observed a second transaction occurring at approximately 6:16 p.m. at the same location. During this transaction, the undercover officers observed an unidentified man sell a semiautomatic handgun to another unidentified man.”
The alleged firearms were found in the 500 block of DeKalb Avenue in Brownsville.
The undercover cops also had a New Jersey address listed in their ID when they made the purchases.
Police believe the alleged plotters were in the process of acquiring “more than one firearm.”
“They were planning to go target shooting and out on the hunt,” said a law enforcement source.
The accused men were arrested shortly after the transactions.
